UPDATE: Watch the full interview.
Want to find out more about your favorite YouTube stars, and how they do what they do?
"The Partners Project," launched last month, goes behind the camera to meet the creators of YouTube's most-liked videos.
And while there are certainly many one-hit wonders, "YouTube isn't just those random viral videos" anymore, said Shira Lazar, the show's host.
Rather, "The Partners Project" focuses mainly on those content creators with large subscription bases who regularly put out top-rated content, whether their talents are in special effects, comedy, music, or a combination of skills.
On the "Annoying Orange" show, featured in the first episode, creator Danebo spends 80 hours a week refining the special effects. He's been creating web videos for five years, but hit on the Orange characters just over a year ago. So like many YouTube stars, it took quite a while for Danebo's work to become a sensation.
"It's not just about being viral or being an overnight success," said Lazar. "It's about the fact that you can create careers -- and long-term careers -- on the these platforms."
The interview show is posted every Thursday at YouTube.com/partnersproject, or PartnersProject.com. For fans who want to get more technical, "Partners Project" releases a behind-the-scenes episode on Tuesdays, where the YouTube stars give up their tricks of the trade, from which cameras they use to editing techniques.
Other episodes have featured iJustine, KassemG and MysteryGuitarMan.
Lazar said that YouTube audiences continue to grow, and are highly engaged with the content and the creators through comments and feedback.
"It's amazing to see what you can do on your own when you put your mind to it," she said.
"The Partners Project" is a production of Disrupt/Group, founded by Lazar and Damon Berger.
