BASIC SETUP FOR "HEY WITH DANE GOLDEN"
For guests appearing via Skype Video
Thanks for being a guest on HEY.com. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to be on the show. To be a guest via Skype, you'll simply need:
- Connectivity
- Good quality: Please use an ethernet connection, not Wi-Fi, to prevent your audio from coming across in a staticy way. We want you to sound your best!
- Baseline quality: Wi-Fi - Video Options
- Any webcam will do.
- Please make sure your face is VERY well lit, much more than you'd think you'd need. Turn on all the lights in the room, and put a couple of extra lamps next to your computer for good measure. We're talking a LOT of light. - Audio Options (any quiet, no-echo room will do)
- Good quality: Skype-enabled USB headset. These will always say they are OK for Skype somewhere on the package. NOTE: A non-USB headset that just uses the headphone jack doesn't qualify for good quality Skype audio.
- Baseline quality: iPhone earbuds or music headphones.
- Unworkable: Wireless headsets, no headphones at all. - Audio Test:
Call the Skype Test Call username "echo123" and listen to your audio played back to you once or twice. Tap your microphone. Can you hear it played back to you?
BONUS TIP: Have a cup of coffee before the show so you're alert and upbeat!
